Why Do Some Pastors “See” Personal Things But Not Global Warnings?
Introduction
In today’s spiritual climate, many are drawn to pastors or prophets who can call out names, origins, and hidden personal details. It’s common to hear someone say, “That man of God told me my full name and the exact house I grew up in.” But this brings up a crucial question:
If a man of God can know someone’s name and future, why can’t he predict a coming war, an earthquake, or a national disaster that could save lives?
The answer lies in understanding a deeper reality: not all supernatural knowledge comes from God. There is a growing spiritual phenomenon called demonic intelligence the ability of dark spirits to reveal certain information, not to save, but to manipulate.
What Is Demonic Intelligence?
Demonic intelligence refers to the ability of evil spirits to reveal true and specific information names, addresses, ailments, and more to deceive or impress people. It is knowledge that appears spiritual, but lacks the fruit of salvation, holiness, and repentance.
It is not a lie in content, but a lie in purpose.
Biblical Examples of Demonic Intelligence
1. The Slave Girl in Acts 16:16–18
She followed Paul and his companions, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God.” Although this statement was accurate, it was spoken under the influence of a demonic spirit of divination. Paul was grieved and cast the spirit out. This shows that even when the facts are correct, the source can still be demonic and unclean.
2. The Sorcerers of Pharaoh in Exodus 7
When Moses performed miracles before Pharaoh, the magicians of Egypt imitated them through enchantments. These acts were supernatural, but clearly not divine, revealing the presence of demonic power that mimics God’s work.
3. The Witch of Endor in 1 Samuel 28
Saul, desperate for direction, sought a medium to summon the spirit of Samuel. Though a revelation came, it led to Saul’s destruction, not deliverance. Again, demonic intelligence gave access to hidden knowledge, but at the cost of his soul.
Why Do Some Pastors Operate Like This?
Not every prophetic revelation originates from the Holy Spirit. Some pastors or prophets intentionally seek to impress people, gain followers, or accumulate wealth. Instead of calling people to repentance and faith, they focus on name-calling, shallow revelations, and emotional hype.
Some may start with genuine gifts but later compromise. Others mix their ministry with occult practices and still claim to be speaking for God. While God does reveal personal matters through genuine prophets, many today rely on demonic intelligence disguised as prophecy.
Why They “See” People’s Names But Not National Tragedies
There are several reasons why personal revelations are more common than global ones among many spiritual leaders today:
First, spiritual gifts are limited by God’s will. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit distributes gifts and revelations as He chooses. No prophet has access to all knowledge unless God reveals it.
Second, not everyone is called to see or announce national or global events. Some are called to heal, others to teach, and some to intercede for nations. Each prophet functions based on their divine assignment.
Third, many are showmen, not watchmen. They are more concerned with public attention than national repentance. They avoid warning about wars, judgments, or calamities because such messages are unpopular.
Fourth, true prophets who speak about national events are often ignored, silenced, or even persecuted. In the Bible, prophets like Jeremiah were hated and rejected for declaring the truth about national judgment.
Lastly, some spiritual leaders operate under demonic influence. They may accurately reveal personal secrets, but their source is not the Holy Spirit. Demons know people’s past, weaknesses, and secrets but they reveal them only to deceive, distract, or destroy.
How to Discern Between God’s Spirit and Demonic Intelligence
The Bible instructs us to “test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1). Discernment is critical in our time. Demonic intelligence may appear convincing, but there are ways to recognize the difference:
Revelation from the Holy Spirit always leads to repentance, humility, truth, and glorifying Jesus. It produces lasting transformation and draws people closer to God.
On the other hand, demonic intelligence may sound impressive, but it promotes emotional excitement rather than spiritual growth. It tends to glorify the prophet instead of God and often leads people into fear, addiction to prophecy, or spiritual confusion. It produces no spiritual fruit, only temporary excitement.
Final Call: The Danger of Clapping for Devils in Suits
We must wake up as a Church.
Not all spiritual displays are divine. Not all revelations are from God.
The devil can call your name and still lead you to hell.
It’s not about what the prophet sees it’s about what spirit is speaking.
It’s time for us to desire:
- Discernment over entertainment
- Truth over theatrics
- Holiness over hype
We are not called to chase prophecy, but to seek God.
Don’t sell your soul to anyone just because they called your name.
Prayer of Discernment
Lord, open my eyes to see the truth.
Deliver me from deception.
Remove every spiritual addiction to signs and wonders.
Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me by Your truth.
Raise true prophets in this generation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
