“When You Pray Against Your Enemies, Remember You Are Also an Enemy”

A Reflection by Astro D’ Great

This statement is not just thought-provoking; it is deeply humbling. It’s a call to spiritual maturity, to reexamine how we view others and ourselves in the lens of divine justice.

1. The Enemy You Don’t Know You Are

When you stand in prayer declaring fire against your enemies, pause and ask: “Whose enemy am I?”
Someone, somewhere, is also praying against you maybe because you unknowingly hurt them, disappointed them, or stood in their way. To them, you are the villain in their story. This is why judgment belongs to God, not man (Romans 12:19).

2. Prayer Should Heal Before It Kills

True prayer seeks justice with mercy, not revenge. Jesus said, “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you…” (Matthew 5:44).
If we all keep praying for our enemies to die, the world will be empty. God’s power is not for personal vendetta it’s for transformation. Your enemy today could be your divine helper tomorrow.

3. Check the Motive Before You Check the Target

Are you praying from a place of bitterness or righteousness?
Some prayers are not answered because they are not aligned with God’s will but with personal offense. God sees the heart, not the noise.

4. You Might Be the Pharaoh in Someone Else’s Egypt

We often see ourselves as the oppressed. But what if you’re the one causing another person pain, fear, or suppression?
Before calling fire on Pharaoh, ensure you are not holding someone’s destiny hostage.

5. The Goal Is Redemption, Not Annihilation

Jesus came not to destroy, but to redeem. When you truly walk in the Spirit, you desire that even your enemies encounter God not just fall by the sword.
That is the difference between a carnal warrior and a spiritual reformer.

Final Thought

Be slow to label others as enemies. Be quick to seek peace. Yes, spiritual warfare is real, but discernment is the key.
Because in someone else’s story, your name might be on the enemy list.

“Father, if I must pray against my enemies, let it be from a pure heart. And if I am the enemy, convict me before You judge me.”
